Learn to Rest, Not Quit
I know we’re just coming off the weekend. But have you ever had a time in your life when you’re pushing yourself really hard? Maybe there’s a goal you want to accomplish. Or a life change is sucking up a ton of your time, energy and attention.
You’re really committed to taking on this challenge. But then after a while of pushing forward, you start feeling really drained.
You also notice that this stress has seeped into other areas of your life as well—you make easy and unhealthy food choices, cut back on exercise, cancel plans with friends, and get cranky. You’re teetering on the edge of burnout.
If you get tired, learn to rest, not quit.
Come back to what your initial reason was for taking on this project. If you still want to do it, great! If you’ve changed your mind about it, that’s Ok too.
Be aware of when your body, mind and soul are exhausted. What do you need to do to rest and replenish yourself? And for how long? What does balance look like to you? And how can you find your way back to this place?
Don’t worry, you’ll know it when you’re revived and ready to roll again!
In the meantime, give yourself the gift of rest. Let yourself slow down and catch your breath.
You’ll do so much better at the task at hand, and you’ll experience reinvigorated inspiration. You’ll feel so much better. And your loved ones will be secretly thanking you for the more cheerful and easy-going you.
